Chair of Information Systems and Strategic IT Management

The Chair of Information Systems and Strategic IT Management (SITM) conducts research on the strategic IT/IS management domain. Currently, our focus is on:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) from a strategic and managerial view
  • AI-Supported Organizational Decision-Making
  • Augmented Reality for Enterprise Architecture Management (AR EAM)
  • Benefits Management and Value of IT (BM)
  • Digital Strategy & Digital Transformation Management (DT)
  • Enterprise Architecture Management (EAM)
  • Green IT and Green IS
  • IT Demand Management (ITDM)
  • IT/Digital Innovation Management (ITIM)
  • Project Management (PM) and Project Portfolio Management (PPM)
  • Smart City (SC)

In our research, we approach these domains from two directions: Following the design science paradigm, we develop and evaluate artifacts (e.g., process models, methods, tools) for strategic IT/IS management. In parallel, we conduct behavioral research to gain an understanding of the conditions under which these (and other) artifacts are accepted, adopted, and proven successful. We ensure that our research results have a practical and sustainable benefit by cooperating with leading enterprises and institutions.

Prof. Ahlemann will be released from teaching duties during the summer of 2018 as he will be taking a research sabbatical. From 01.04.2018 to 30.09.2018, Prof. Ahlemann will not accept or supervise any new student projects, seminar papers, and bachelor or master theses. Theses started prior to this date may be completed under the chair’s supervision. The lectures “IT Project Management” (bachelor program) and “Strategic Planning of IS” (master program) will take place as planned.
